International Transgender Day of Remembrance is a day that is deeply personal and important day to many of us and to our community. We invite you to join us as we nourish our bodies and care for each other.
At 6 PM, join Trans Joy Revolution outside Reracked Vintage & Coffee for free vegan + gluten-free soup, tea, and vegan treats from Little Loaf Bakeshop and our community. Participate in our collaborative mural, build connections, and take time to reflect and recharge.
From 6:30 - 10 PM, the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Center will host a community event with support from Trans Joy Revolution and The Rêve. The night will start with an ancestor veneration ritual, followed by the reading of the names of trans people whose lives were taken by gender violence this year. We will close with uplifting live music by community members Heather Love and Mattie May. This program is a community effort with support from Trans Joy Revolution and The Rêve.
A comfortable, low/no-stimulation space will be available for those who need to take a moment to decompress or find peace during the event.
If you cannot join us on the 20th, Blackbird Infoshop and Those Masked Queers will be hosting a Trans Resilience Open Mic on Sunday, 11/24, from 2 – 5 pm. This event will be a space for community connection & sharing creative expression in honor of those we’ve lost.
